Annual Festival Held in Honor of the Beloved Aunty Sally Wood Nalua‘i
La‘ie, HI – January 7, 2009 – The Polynesian Cultural Center plays host once again to its 19th Annual Moanikeala Hula Festival on Saturday, January 17, starting at 10 a.m. in the Pacific Theater. While the festival began as a keiki hula competition, it is now a ho‘ike, or exhibition, and will showcase dancers of all ages from some of the world's best hula hālau. The event is held in honor of La‘ie's own late Aunty Sally Wood Nalua‘i and will feature both local and international halau, perpetuating Aunty Sally's nearly 40-year passion for teaching hula as PCC's first kumu hula. General admission to the festival is $8.00 and attendees can use their tickets for free admission to the PCC's villages following the event. Guests can also upgrade their tickets to a dinner and/or evening show package.
